Welding in Leona Valley, CA
We weld steel pipe fence, ranch gates and broken parts for Leona Valley properties, on site or at our Lancaster shop. The valley's own fence rule names steel pipe as a permitted material, so a welded pipe rail line is a fence the code already has in mind.

How a pipe fence weld repair works, step by step
-

Push each rail
On a pipe rail fence the welds sit at the posts. A cracked joint shows up as a rail that moves when you push it.
-

Cut out the kink
A smooth bow can be pulled back straight. A crease means the pipe wall has folded, so that length is cut out and new pipe welded in.
-

Weld it, keep it open
Cracked joints are ground out and welded through. Any new length matches what is already there, so the fence stays open.
The code names our material
Leona Valley has its own rules under the Leona Valley Community Standards District, LA County Code Chapter 22.330. Section 22.330.060.B asks that perimeter fencing be open, non-view-obscuring and permeable, and it says that holds for fencing put up for horses and livestock too. Its examples of a permitted design include steel pipe, alongside wood rail, vinyl rail, PVC pipe, recycled plastic rail and coated wire. Solid view-obscuring perimeter fences and walls are prohibited, retaining walls aside.
For welding work in Leona Valley that draws a clear line. A repair to a pipe rail fence keeps it open, and any new length we weld in matches what is there. A request to skin a pipe perimeter fence with sheet for privacy is the solid fence the district rules out, so we do not take it on.
Height comes from the county section the district sits on, LA County Code 22.110.070: 3 feet 6 inches in a required front yard and 6 feet in an interior side or rear yard.
Pipe fence and pipe gates
On a pipe rail fence the welds sit at the posts, where each rail meets the upright. A cracked joint shows up as a rail that moves when you push it. These are the repairs we weld:

- Cracked rail to post joints, ground out and welded through
- Rails bowed by an animal or a vehicle, pulled back straight where the pipe has only bent
- Kinked or creased pipe, cut out with a new length welded in
- Posts rusted thin at the ground, cut back to sound steel and spliced
- Hinges and latches on pipe gates, rebuilt or renewed
- Pipe corral panels that have split at a welded joint
A bend and a kink are not the same repair. A smooth bow can be pulled back without losing much. A crease means the pipe wall has folded, and folded steel does not get its stiffness back, so that length is replaced. On Leona Valley horse property, tell us what lives behind the fence. Rail spacing and a clean top rail count for more there than the look.
Wind on a wide ranch gate
The closest climate record we use for Leona Valley is the National Weather Service station at Palmdale Airport, east of the valley. Its figures are a guide, not a reading of your lot. In April 2026 the station averaged 12.0 mph of wind over the month, with a sustained 36 mph on April 2 and a 50 mph gust on April 3.
An open pipe fence lets most of that wind pass. A wide ranch gate leaf in Leona Valley takes more of it, because the whole leaf is carried by one post and every push reaches the hinges as a turning force. Over time that cracks hinge welds, wears pins and lets the latch end drop until the latch no longer meets. All of that is welding work: new hinge tabs on sound steel, a diagonal brace to carry the latch corner, and a latch that lines up again.
Shop and site
Leona Valley lies west of Palmdale, and we run out to it from the Lancaster shop. Fence lines, gates and anything else that cannot move get welded where they stand. Loose parts, a trailer, or a gate leaf that needs squaring flat come to 45551 Division Street, open Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
If an old gate is past saving, we build custom steel gates in the shop, cut and welded to the measured opening, and deliver them. Our welding and steel repair page covers when a weld is the wrong fix, and the Leona Valley service area page has the district rule in full.
Before you call
Send photos down the fence line from both ends, a close shot of each broken joint, and one of the gate closed. Say whether animals are kept behind the fence and how close a truck can get to the damage.
